Lowepro Deluxe shoulder strap review

E-mail

This review does not concern a discontinued product  and is out of scope with old photo equipment recycling. But if you adapt M42 lenses and hammerhead flash guns to your DSLR, you will certainly find all of this heavy on your shoulder. Very often the neck strap provided with DSLR are not wide enough to be confortable.  I was looking for a replacement of the one provided with the Sony Alpha 700 for a more confortable one.

I purchased the Lowepro Deluxe soulder strap:

I am not certain that this strap is dedicated to DSLR. I think it can be also suitable to carry laptops.

It is a shoulder strap but I use it as a neck strap.

One intersting point is the 2 snap links wich are so huge that they can only be adapted to prosumer DSLR :

On entry-level DSLR strap attachments are often too small. This is not the case with the Sony Alpha 700:

So take care to this point if you plan to adapt this replacement strap to your DSLR.

On the other hand, the 2 snap links are easy to remove when the DSLR is fixed on a tripod. But it is safe enough against unexpected snap links opening!

On the next picture you can compare the size of the Lowepro Deluxe shoulder strap with the size of the Sony Alpha 700:

You can see on the next picture how padded is this strap with soft foam to be very confortable.

The ergonomics is good and it is very confortable to wear for hours:

My strap is purple but it is available in black:

So I highly recommand this shoulder strap for owner of heavy photo equipments considering it's price and how confortable it is.
