Simply by teaching you how to recycle old (film era) photo equipment and use it with your brand new DSLR.
- Instead of buying new and expensive autofocus lenses dedicated to your DSLR mount, you will buy old but excellent M42 fast prime lenses (manual focus).
- Instead of buying new (only dedicated to your DSLR brand) flash, you will adapt old flash-guns from the early heighties and discover how efficient they are. (and very simple to use)
M42 (screw mount) prime lenses are very cheap on the after market. There are tons of them available on the ex Soviet Union. Can you figure out that it is possible to get a 58 mm F:2.0 for 20$ and this lens will be as sharp as a new autofocus 50 F1.7 or F1.8 even wide open ! This lens is the Helios 44-2 and it was the kit lens for the Zenit camera. It is possible to adapt this kind of lens to the most of DSLR. I will teach you how.

Before TTL technologie was introduced by SLR manufacturer, flash were able (in the heigthies) to compute the exposure and then to deliver the right flash duration and power. The metering of some of them is (in my opinion) more accurate and reliable than the new TTL models dedicated to your DSLR brand. The way to use these flashguns is very simple. I will teach you how. I will teach you also how to find a good model on the aftermarket.
